House Music DJ and Producer. Chicago, IL.
Bio: If anyone tried to keep track of such things, DJ Paul Johnson would most likely carry the title as the most prolific House Music producer in history. The admirable efforts of fans to catalog his huge library of underground EPs, edits released and unreleased and official productions on his page at discogs.com really doesn’t even scratch the surface.
Paul Johnson began DJing in 1984 at the age of 13. Though he’s been in a wheelchair since he was injured by an accidental gunshot on May 17, 1987, Paul would go on to release music on nearly every seminal Chicago House label of the 1990s, including Relief, Cajual, Dance Mania, Nite Life, Dust Traxx, Moody and more. He was one of the first Southside House Music DJs to cross over to play distinctly different audiences at in the worldwide rave scene and his releases on Dance Mania are widely considered to be some of the earliest specimens of a new genre that came to be called Ghetto House.
