Chicago’s legendary Chosen Few DJ crew held a livestreamed version of the Chosen Few Picnic over the holiday weekend, but a live event is coming this August 28 courtesy of the City of Chicago.
The Protect Chicago Music Series will welcome the Chosen Few DJ Crew — originally formed in the earliest days of house music on the Southside of Chicago — for a live show on Saturday, August 28 at Kennedy King College.
The show is free so long as you meet two criteria:
- You must be a resident of Chicago, 18+
- You must be fully vaccinated by August 14
The event is free but will be ticketed. You can register for a ticket at here.
Chicago holding a free house music concert for the vaccinated in communities with lower vaccination rates is one of more clever ideas I've seen.

Kennedy King College is at 6301 S. Halsted in Chicago. The event runs from noon to 7pm.
The Protect Chicago Music Series are events that are exclusively for fully vaccinated citizens of Chicago, a partnership between the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE). You can find out more about the series here.
