5 Mag once wrote that “Charivari is everything you want from a Detroit festival.” (We must have – the quote is on Charivari’s website!)
Let’s amend that. Let’s take the city name off of there. Charivari is quintessentially Detroit – no question – but it’s everything you want in a festival, period.
It’s homegrown.
It’s people you know.
It’s artists you love.
It’s artists you don’t know you love (yet).
And it’s done for the community, by the community.
We’re pleased to report that Charivari is returning again in 2019, taking place August 2, 3 and 4th.
Charivari is also free, but the organizers attempt to defray the costs of talent and infrastructure via fundraiser in advance. This year, Charivari has set a goal of $25,000 (think, for a moment, how many individual artists at Coachella make more than this). We think it’s fair to pay what you’d prefer as a ticket price ahead of the event, but your mileage may vary.
You can support Charivari at gofundme.com/charivari-fresh-2019. Also: $50 bucks gets you a t-shirt and $100 gets you a hoodie. When was the last time Ticketmaster did that?
