Ralphi Rosario has often spoken of his respect for Frankie Knuckles, and we have it documented in one of the dozen interviews Frankie had with 5 Mag that the feeling was mutual.
Speaking of a party back in 2009, Frankie told Czarina Mirani for 5 Mag:
The whole thing came together last minute. Red Bull was in Chicago and at the very last minute they called to see if I was going to be in town. They’ve been trying to get me to do it for the last ten years, but I was never available. After everything had been set up they said, “Who would you like to play with you?” and I was like “Ralphi [Rosario].”
Fitting then that Ralphi and Abel Aguilera’s Rosabel will be headlining For Frankie, the 2019 celebration of Frankie Knuckles’ life this January 20. This is an all-building event with Rosabel, Alan King and Zac Jones upstairs and the residents of Queen – Frankie’s final residency – in Smartbar: Derrick Carter, Michael Serafini and Garrett David.
