Booker T: The 5 Mag Interview
My absolute favorite track of yours was your remix of “Satisfy,” oh my God! Talk about a dancefloor filler and just plain pure powerful soul! Can you tell me about that?
I was going through some vinyl at home and came across Funkanova’s “Wood Brass and Steel.” Took all the best parts looped it in Logic. And there you go – Disco cut up track!
You have something out with Jeremy Sylvester and Ross Couch I see? What a dream team if there ever was one!
Yes the new track is Inner Souls presents Neighborhood Dubz. I’ve got the dubs fever at the moment so went back old Skool and did a dub EP as I’ve been doing vocal mixes for a while and wanted to go back to underground club vibes.
Have you ever played out here in the States or plan to? We’d love to see you!
Yes I’ve played in Miami, LA, San Francisco, Seattle and Texas. I hope America invites me back.
Tell me about this mix you’ve done for us?
It’s a deep soulful house mix with some vocals cuts, afrohouse and dubs. Just pure vibes!
What do you have coming up projects wise and gig wise?
Got Mike City, Cinnamon Brown and Shirley Jones. We also some have forthcoming club tracks on the label before the end of this year, remixes coming out on Groove Odyssey, Quantize and a few other indie labels. Gig wise I’m playing a few parties in the UK and the Caribbean.
