The Midwest massive strikes back with another hot wax selection from Residual, a classic label that was always miles ahead of its time. As with its owner, Titonton Duvante, Residual is going through a musical renaissance right now, with high praise coming from all corners for a futuristic techno and deep house sound crafted with an artisanal care.

“Simple Flourish” is the descriptive title of Garrett David‘s return to Residual, marking his first release on the label since last year’s Hodge Podge EP. This could fit right in the crate between several Residual classics or perhaps Titonton’s own treasured Embryonic EP from fellow Ohioan Dan Curtin‘s Metamorphic label. “Simple Flourish” has a kind of cool beauty, icy keys purring in the dark and an elevating, optimistic groove that’s hard to come by.

“Simple Flourish” is featured on Refraction Vol 3, the forthcoming EP from Residual and featuring tracks from Titonton Duvante & Andreas Saag, Fym and Todd Sines (as “.xtrak”) “fittr.” Preorder page is up on Juno and Subwax.
