The mad geniuses at Moog have brought to the world the next step in retro semi-modular synths.
“Grandmother” (obviously: one step beyond the sensational Mother 32 and some sort of relation in name to the Drummer From Another Mother) is retro-futuristic by design, inspired by the early creations of Dr. Bob Moog and decked out in (mostly) primary colors with a distinctly ’70s flair.
Here is a video featuring Wizards of Asheville Eric Church and Mark Crowley walking us through the construction and a hands-on demo of the Grandmother.
According to Moog, the Grandmother boasts dual oscillators, arpeggiator, sequencer and “built-in spring reverb.”
Launched ahead of this year’s Moogfest, attendees at the music festival can buy one on site for a discounted price of $899. The Grandmother will retail at $999 elsewhere.
