“It’s the thing with Derrick being in Chicago and me being in London and traveling the world and meeting assorted weirdos along the way. There’s this spider web of the Classic misfit family that seems to create itself.”
That’s a quote from Luke Solomon in an interview I did at about this time a year ago, and it’s always seemed to encapsulate the Classic Music Company A&R effort better than any other.
Two of the latest (freaks in the web? moths to the flame? mixed metaphors in the English major’s notebook?) are Alinka and Shaun J Wright. By night they are residents at Twirl!, the exclamatory night held every 2nd Thursday at Berlin. And next month, Alinka from Shuteye and Shaun J Wright (best known for his vocal acrobatics with Hercules & Love Affair) will launch their production collaboration with the eponymous Twirl! EP Vol 1, coming September 2 2013 from Luke & Derrick Carter’s Classic Music Company.
