Out today comes another bundle of sunshine from Cajual and Relief Records in Chicago – a massive 31 track compilation pitting the labels in mortal combat, Cajual vs. Relief Volume 2.
There are few labels that blend the old and new better than Cajmere’s imprints. Among the highlights are new tracks from veterans like Joeski, Gene Farris and Cajmere himself with 20 or 30 years in the trenches; collaborations between Cajmere and some leading lights of the new jack (Doorly, Sonny Fodera, Jay Lumen), some bona fide classics (“Preacher Man”!) and straight up heat from rated rookies Third Son, Harvard Bass, Josh Butler and Fred Hush.
