Possibly the least exciting phrase in the English language is “out now on Beatport”. This is especially true in the summer, when according to the rites of some ancient tradition labels shut down and toss industrial-sized cannisters of chum your way in compilation form. Most of them are instantly forgettable, and most of them also use some variation of the word “Ibiza” in their title (no, seriously, look at this).
Summer rolls in like a rumbling stomach virus if you’re actually interested in music, and it doesn’t get much better until September.
So when someone decides to put some care, some consideration, some soul into a new record – and when that someone turns out to be Detroit luminary Santonio – it tends to focus your attention.
Santonio has tipped us off that “Get Up” featuring Gospel vocalist QuWona is out now on vinyl with remixes by fellow Luminous One Blake Baxter, Greg Stafford (B.A.M.), Beat Meistro and Adam Pole.
Greg Stafford’s Club Mix is as soulful as anything you can come up with, down to the signature Philly Int’l soul with strings – shades of something akin to Reel People here:

Blake Baxter’s mix is, as you’d expect, a bit harder but still groovy enough:

All in all, an extraordinarily solid package (which is getting crammed into the “Techno” bins because, hey, “Detroit” must mean it’s “Techno”, even if you could probably play Stafford’s mix for Stevie Wonder and get a couple head bobs out of him).
