Erick Morillo

Shocking news from Miami Beach this morning as multiple sources are reporting that DJ and producer Erick Morillo has died at age 49.

Miami news outlet Local10.com is reporting that Morillo was “found dead Tuesday” at his Miami Beach home.

“Officers say they received a 911 call at 10:42 a.m. to 5660 La Gorce Drive,” according to Local10. Police are investigating.

Morillo was a fixture in the electronic music scene and achieved breakthrough success with a series of tracks for Strictly Rhythm in the 1990s – most notably, “I Like To Move It” as Reel 2 Real.

Most recently, Morillo was charged with sexual battery after a fellow DJ and guest at his home reported the assault. Following a positive rape kit result, police arrested Morillo at his home on August 6, 2020. Miami New Times reported that Morillo gave a statement to police in which he denied raping or having sex with the woman.
