DJ Erick Morillo’s death was a result of drug use and was believed to be an accident.
The findings of the autopsy conducted on September 2 were disclosed on Tuesday by the Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner’s department. The initial report rules the 49 year old DJ and producer’s September 1 2020 death was an accident.
The cause of death is listed as “acute ketamine toxicity.” MDMA and cocaine were also in his system and are listed as contributory causes. Overdoses of ketamine or its use in combination with other drugs can lead to respiratory and cardiovascular failure, as well as seizure, stupor or coma.

Police responded to Morillo’s home after a 911 call the morning of September 1 2020 and found Morillo unresponsive.
Erick Morillo had been charged with sexual battery on August 6 2020 after a woman accused him of raping her in December 2019. Morillo denied having sex with the woman. Police alleged that Morillo submitted a DNA sample and a rape kit tested positive for his DNA, precipitating his arrest.
