The US has extended its EU-wide ban to include the United Kingdom and Ireland, President Donald Trump said on Saturday, with US officials discouraging travel altogether.

Last week the US announced a 30 day ban on entry into the United States for travelers who had previously visited the “Schengen Area” – any of the 26 EU states that have removed passport and border control at their mutual areas. The move came amid a spike in confirmed cases of Coronavirus or COVID-19 in Italy, Spain and other European countries.

The latest move extends the travel restrictions to those who have visited the United Kingdom and Ireland over the previous two weeks. The ban is for 30 days and takes effect at midnight on Monday.

The effect this restriction on talent will have on nightclub events that would be otherwise unaffected by public gathering restrictions imposed in cities around the United States is likely to be yet another blow to a live music industry that has virtually shut down in the wake of the coronavirus epidemic.
