Already the proud owner of one Grammy, Louie Vega is looking to add to the hardware case in 2017. The House Music legend was revealed to be one of the nominees in this year’s list of Best Dance/Electronic Album and we couldn’t be more thrilled for him.
Louie Vega won his first Grammy in the remix category for his 2006 edit of Curtis Mayfield’s “Superfly” on Rhino Records. His nomination this year is for original production: what was (incredibly) his debut album, Louie Vega Starring…XXVIII released in February 2016. From our review:
Louie Vega wanted to see all his friends at once. Here they are, an unexpected but pleasant surprise in this double CD released and distributed by Vega Records… The most astonishing thing is to think that most of these are rather new: a couple were released as album teasers (sometimes with nearly a dozen remixes) and on the whole this signifies the kind of creative flourish that few artists experience beyond their mid-20s.
There were 25 collaborators on Louie Vega Starring…XXVIII, all of whom likely share a piece of this. Congratulations!
