Chicago’s Magnificent Mile will be painted purple this summer as Superfly and the Prince Estate will open Prince: The Immersive Experience this June through October 9, 2022.
Tickets for the interactive exhibit go on sale this Thursday, March 31 2022 at 10am.
Among the highlights announced is a “recreation” of Paisley Park’s Studio A and what Superfly’s Kerry Black told Rolling Stone is a 3D walk into — repeat: into — the album cover for Purple Rain.
“You can get your photo up on the motorcycle,” Black said. “But we’re also doing a full buildout of the entire street scene, right? So there’s going to be the First Avenue club and a bunch of the stores.”
Inside the recreation of Studio A, “people are going to be able to go and sort of play producer and mix stems from ‘Let’s Go Crazy,'” Black said.
Black is a co-founder of Superfly, which founded Bonnaroo and Outside Lands festivals.
Tickets for the show are not cheap: $39.50, which makes repeat viewing potentially a bit difficult on the pocketbook. But if you have a music fan in your life it’s pretty hard to ignore just what a unique experience this could be.
