Veteran Chicago promoters React Presents have announced that this year’s edition of the Chicago EDM festival Spring Awakening Music Festival will be postponed until 2023.

The announcement came on Tuesday afternoon, with a twitter post announcing that the festival will not be happening in the Summer of 2022.

The festival – originally scheduled for July 8, 9 and 10 2022 at the United Center – would have marked the 10th anniversary of Spring Awakening. The 10th anniversary festival was originally scheduled for 2020, postponed to 2021, then 2022 and now 2023.

Prior to the announcement, React had not posted frequently on social media, leading to rumors of a postponement. An email was sent last night to ticket holders with language similar to today’s announcement that “the current lineup was not in a place you have come to expect and deserve.”

“Rather than disappoint you, we believe it is best to focus on securing a kick-ass lineup that will make 2023 the best festival experience to date.”

A refund request form was enclosed in the email and should have been sent to all ticket buyers, though to encourage customers holding on to their tickets React has offered to upgrade 3-Day GA tickets to VIP. VIP ticket holders will receive “exclusive side-stage access and seats” for 2023 and Ultimate VIP ticket holders will receive “back stage access and 50% off merch” if they bypass a refund.
