Twenty years ago, a musical style started by “some guys in a pub” crashed into the mainstream of the UK cultural scene on its way to becoming a global electronic music phenomenon.
Rewind 4Ever tells the story of the phenomenal rise and spectacular crash of the UK Garage scene, a music style related to Chicago’s own House Music and which spawned the careers of artists ranging from Grammy Award-winning producer Todd Edwards, MJ Cole, Roy Davis Jr. and Disclosure.
Rewind 4Ever: A History of UK Garage makes its Chicago debut in the birthplace of House Music on Sunday, June 17 2018 at East Room in Logan Square (2354 N. Milwaukee Avenue, 6pm-12am.)
Filmmaker Alex Lawton will be on hand at the screening beginning at 6pm and will engage the audience in a Q&A about Rewind 4Ever and the lasting influence of UK Garage until 8pm.
The Q&A will be followed by UK Garage-inspired sets from Chicago House Music legend Mazi, RUBB Sound System, The Almaria Brothers and Czboogie.
RSVP for FREE ADMISSION at Eventbrite:
This special screening is presented by 5 Magazine, the Chicago-based House Music and Electronic Music Publication now entering its 13th year.
