Anja Schneider’s Sous Music has become a driving force in the industry in the short period of time it’s been around. The best records, I don’t think she’ll mind me saying, are coming from Anja Schneider herself.
Give It All To You is Sous Music and Anja Schneider’s latest release, and it’s the rare four track EP that has to be heard as a single package to be appreciated. At a time when the album is supposedly dying, Schneider is still stressing the continuity of vision in these packages created to sell product. The listener, and the dancer, and the DJ are all the better for it.
The title track is a monster of energy erupting out of the speakers. “Tijuana,” with its choppy tribal percussion has a haunting, almost ominous vibe, opening itself up like those time lapse videos of the slow black sun sliding out from behind a lunar eclipse. The remixes from Fort Romeau and Mella are just as tight, and just as visually stimulating.
I try to pick a single track for this section because life is short and you don’t have time to listen to an entire EP to pick and choose. But to pick and choose here would be a waste of time:
