Not a popular opinion but I think I preferred the first Lost & Found EP to Spaces & Places, the full-length LP from Kerri Chandler released later in 2022. The second volume of archival material dropped in March and it’s an eclectic mix of jazz-influenced, soulful, dubby masterworks from what must be the most valuable vault of any producer in house music.

“Fluff Rehab” leads with a dubbed out jazz vibe. I’ve always assumed that whatever techniques anyone uses would be easily copied by others, but I’ve yet to hear anyone that makes their drums vibrate like Kerri does — like a tuning fork held right up against your ear.

“What If” is an amazing jam. It’s early but this one of my favorite tracks of the year, with an fuzzy bassline that rolls like the floor is giving way beneath it. Kerri takes the vocals on the soulful lament “Who Are You” and the EP closes with a best-in-breed funk’n’brass shakedown called “Dem Joy Ride.” Best in show.
