Circus Company is preparing for the release next week of the first batch of remixes from electronic music legend Pépé Bradock album Muzak pour ascenseurs en panne (Muzak for Broken Elevators) released last month under the name “Brigitte Barbu.”
Remixes pour ascenseurs en panne is the title of the four track EP coming on July 17 2020 on vinyl and digital. Circus Company has lined up Roman Flügel for two remixes of “Dae-Boj DeMoya” (including the unabashedly adorable “kraut” remix), Matthew Herbert’s dust chipped remix of “Trou Vert” and John Tejada and Reggie Watts for the remix of “Couvre chef en peau de taupe” under their rubric of their “Wajatta” project.
In addition, the digital version features three bonus mixes, including a third remix from Flügel, an incredibly energetic instrumental mix from Wajatta (it’s worth it for this alone) and Matthew Herbert’s abrasive choke-a-pella from “Trou Vert.”
Muzak pour ascenseurs en panne was released in June 2020, marking Pépé Bradock’s third album and another wild off-season and out-of-the-atmosphere departure from the artist whose “Deep Burnt” has formed the architectural model for literally thousands of deep house tracks that followed.
Remixes pour ascenseurs en panne is out July 17; you can preorder the digital via Bandcamp or the vinyl via Juno.
