I knew the name Alkalino alone from the new Whiskey Disco four track EP split four ways. He’s one of those guys that I keep tripping over, from SoundCloud groups before SoundCloud killed groups to one of the first people to really upload quality music to fledgling SoundCloud competitor HearThis.
Alkalino’s “Body & Soul” opens Bumpin’ Soul and lifts the vibe to such a level it’s gonna be hard to bring it back down again. Soul with strings, celestial voices like the back up singers from a Dexter Wansel session pushed up in the mix. Terrence Pearce’s “Ushukela” from the same record is also an interesting track if you’re buying this on wax.
