Brawther returns to Cabinet with the exquisite The Driver

Brawther has more secret weapons than the CIA. The Driver is next...

Brawther has more secret weapons than the CIA. The Driver is another — an exquisite piece of deep house made for how he DJs, which is probably how you DJ too. It’s on the A side of a two track EP from Cabinet, a German label that previously released his Fairground EP last year, the Soothing EP the year before that and has quite a lot of these sorts of tracks in their stockpile too.

The title track is electric — bumpy in the right spots, smooth in others with drums that steal the show and with a heavy bass in the bottom the whole way through. A track like this is so flexible it could be played two or three times in a night without anyone noticing what you’re up to. And what more could be said about “Basix”? I kept nudging the volume, higher and higher as the track progressed. It calls for it — it demands to be played loud, on the best and cleanest soundsystem you can get your hands on.

Brawther: The Driver/Basix (Cabinet / July 2021 / 12″ Vinyl)
A1. Brawther: “The Driver” (7:51)
B1. Brawther: “Basix” (Deep mix) (7:36)
