While we’re making up new genres, how about “Wild Pitch Disco”?
DJ Pierre is back with a new release on his Afro Acid label. “The Underground” leads you by the end through a dark, dangerous cellar, drawn by a demonic voice not unlike the classic bogeyman from “Your Only Friend.” The Wild Pitch mix stacks layer upon layer high like a pyramid in the sky, alongside what you can cheekily call a “familiar” little flashback of a disco hook.
“The Underground” is a collaboration with Serg & Kieron of My Digital Enemy, who just made their SpyBar debut in Chicago last March 27, and also has a remix from Ronnie Spiteri worth checking. It’s available now at Beatport.
