I’m not sure how you spent quarantine but Chicago producer and DJ Emmaculate seems to have decided to master another genre to have a little fun. “Cosmic Funk” is a description as well as the title of his single from Red Night Recordings, and for this packaged goods funk party he brought a whole team of players with him. Live drums from Michelangelo Carubba, funk bass from Garrett Sayers and keys from Joey Porter, George Pettus Jr and Emmaculate himself really elevate this instrumental above the pack. I love organ and key solos on my dancefloor and there’s one of each on this 7 minute smooth disco jam.

Both remixes are incredibly useful, with “Groove Section Mix” playing up the rhythmic backbone and a “JazzFunkAppella” tool that pulls that electrifying fretwork and twinkling keys out of the ether and into your hands.
