Ike Release Shape of Orbit

For a label launched in Brooklyn, Love Notes has signed tracks from several Chicago artists in their brief but extremely notable run. A Chicago music vet who apparently now lives in Brooklyn himself, Ike Release follows on recent outstanding Love Notes cuts from Nu Cleo, Casey Tucker and Shmoo (another hometown hero) with The Shape of Orbit EP.

The title track is moody in the vein of Vincent Floyd (Vincent then or Vincent now). “Vintage” sounds like it came out of the same session, with a dense mist of brassy hats creating the uplifting, dopey sensation of flying. “Can’t You See” introduces a sensual looped vocal for a lively afterhours loft vibe. Ike Release shows that he’s still one of the most versatile producers around with four ultra deep but eclectic and unique tracks.
