Jerry C King: Psalm 23 (Paul Johnson Remix)

All in a day’s work for Paul Johnson: his remix of Chicago’s Jerry C. King’s “Psalm 23” is a spiritual workout.

Psalm 23, for you heathens, is the Psalm of David, Dominus reget me et nihil mihi deerit:

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul…”

Paul Johnson’s edit gives the voiceover room to resonate, reverberate and echo majestically, with what sounds like a heavily compressed fluttering flute providing a solid backbone to kicks, hats and snares. Drop the vocal or compress it down to a few phrases and I would have thought this was Floorplan. Highly motivating material here that will blow up its share of dancefloors this summer.
