Mark Flash debuts a new label with “Hors D’oeuvres Vol 1”

Detroit Techno Funk Association is a new label and if the first track of the first release is any indication there’s going to be some great tracks to come. Mark Flash’s “Precious” is sex in a bottle — a stripped-down track with a vocal sample in the vein of Floorplan or, better, Grand High Priest’s 2006 underground smash “Mary Mary” (the We-Ze Records original).

Hors D’oeuvres is described as “DJ food” — “something quick and delicious for the crowd to discover” but it’s exactly the kind of simple tracks like “Precious” that plant a flag for a label and define a moment in music culture.
