A true single on wax, Marquis Hawkes’ “I’m So Glad” featuring Jocelyn Brown is a track so good that even haters will buy two copies for their kids.
Released digitally some months ago and finding a stronger home abroad than in the States, here it is on black vinyl and it should have a slot reserved in your bag no matter where you got it.
The original mix highlights Jocelyn Brown’s angelic vocal. The 12″ Satisfied Mix is ferocious — the vocal pounding home the word “satisfied” probably several hundred times with a 303 wobble and strings floating in for accompaniment. Remixes are by Paul Woolford channeling the soul of sweaty nights at Sound Factory Bar for a piano-driven dub and a dubby, skanky mix by Catz’N’Dogz.
