This record is all about the groove and how to use it and how to cook up dancefloors so hot they sizzle. Snad makes records that dazzle and records that shake, but the commonality to them all is an elevation of the almighty groove, imprinted as something like a personal signature on his records from Courtesy of Balance, Deep Club and now 2020 Vision.

The title track for his Bootlickerz EP is stripped down like a DJ tool but instead of all drums it’s all groove, a minimalistic but raw beat track or beat-it-down track. “Goobernatorial Candidacy” is another deep groover, perhaps inspired by the recent Republican gubernatorial candidate in Illinois who repeatedly called Chicago a “hellhole” and then showed his courage in braving these Fox-induced hallucinations by camping out at a Gold Coast hotel.

The B-side leads with the floaty kick’n’snare astrology of “Per Savour,” a noisy track once again shaped by that devastating groove, like a magnet dragging everything toward its center. “Butt Heads” closes it down with a gorgeous bit of low intensity deep house in the vein of Fred P. Snad is among the best producers to emerge from Chicago in the last decade, with records that have graduated from listen-on-sight to buy-on-sight.
