You know those mysterious black slabs you see in the shop with little ID other than a smudged stamp and a single fingerprint on the sleeve? Where do they come from? France, in this case, by way of Strong Souls, aka RayDilla, aka Raymond Funnye. This came on and I loved it – techno and house are married here and get it on like they haven’t seen each other in years.
Side A starts out smooth and succulent, a slow jam. B1 is a stab at emotional techno – I’m not sure what I’d call this other than exhilarating. B2 grinds it back down into soil, a meld of high atmospheres with the deeper tracks of the first side. Strongly recommended if you’re lucky enough to find one.
