Yse Saint Laur'Ant Today album artwork

You used to introduce an Yse Saint Laur’Ant record by noting it is from “Ant Plate of Rhythm Plate” but it’s no longer that simple. All of these identities and aliases have been competing for attention and this vinyl-only series (on the appropriately named Vinyl Only label) has commanded and demanded a massive amount of attention from disco and boogie DJs.

Today is the latest release, packed with five tracks of experimental grooves, tracks that tune their wire-hanger antennae to Planet P-Funk. Leading off is the demented roller rink boogie of “F It,” followed by the spacier sub-dermal vibration of “Up You Wake” and the dub poetry of “It Beats The Music.” On the flip side The Commodores meet Moroder on “Life.”
