UK producer DJ Aura delivers a deep yet techie 3 track EP, and it’s definitely club friendly. The original mix of “Excited State” is a deep & dirty, yet funky hypnotic loop, almost Kerri Chandler-ish with the dark baseline. It inspires the DJ in me to layer some sort of diva acappella on top & work the EQ! Right behind it is the Ben Jam remix, which has already leaked to the DJs here in the States (I’ve heard it in a few Chicago clubs already). This version is nicely complemented with saxophone riffs and disco-deep organs, quite Chicago-flavored, and very friendly to the ears. But if musical hypnosis is really your thing, cue up “Grounded State”. This one jumps right into the groove, distracts your mindset, and won’t leave your head for some time afterwards – literally! Good stuff Aura!
