Thrilled to see a line-up like this in Chicago! Oliver Dollar is on a worldwide “Another Day Another Dollar” album release tour. Fresh from Los Angeles, the Berlin-born producer is dropping into Spybar tonight.
One of the most recognizable names in house music for the last ten years, Oliver’s best known for tracks including the Moodymann-on-the-mic-sampled “Doin’ Ya Thang” (more on how a DJ tool became a smash from LWE here). That was the first of three or four smash records on Jesse Rose’s Play It Down, including “Granulated Soul” and “Hoes.”
And Spybar has brought in a special hometown guest – Chicago’s legend of legends, Mr. Paul Johnson, along with support from Tru Musica’s Alex Peace and Brian Boncher to open the night.
