Rare is the import that claims to be “Chicago-influenced” and actually sounds like it. Liverpool-based Friend Within’s collaboration with Disclosure, “The Mechanism”, not only passes the test, but, uh, oh… has topped 3 million plays on SoundCloud, too. Much of Friend Within’s best production work these days is being channeled into tireless remix work for the likes of Eliza Doolittle and Mike Mago; but you can see him at Primary on Feb 26.
