A man in his 40s has died and six people were hospitalized from the Dreamstate Music Festival held in Sydney this past weekend.

The deceased man died “at the scene,” according to the Sydney Morning Herald. His name has not been released, nor has a cause of death.

Six others were hospitalized and one remains in critical condition from the event held at Sydney Showground at Sydney Olympic Park on Saturday February 7 2026.

Dreamstate is a global electronic music festival launched by Insomniac Events, with festivals taking place in the UK, Australia and the United States. Created in 2015, Dreamstate “carries the mantle for all forms of trance music—from deep progressive to psytrance and all BPMs in between—and aspires to create an experience as vivid and diverse as the genre it was inspired by.” Dreamstate Australia took place on Saturday in Sydney with a second show on Sunday in Melbourne.
