
A 21 year old Chicago woman was shot and killed during an altercation involving security at a suburban nightclub.
The incident took place between 1 and 2 am at Mansion Nightclub in Stone Park. Area police state that a fight erupted and a member of the club’s security team fired his gun once, striking and killing Zulma Daniela Calderon Pacheco.
Pacheco was not involved in the altercation, according to police.
Video of the confrontation surfaced almost immediately on social media. They depict a chaotic scene involving several club patrons and, at least as far as what’s captured on video, show several people attacking a man believed to be club security. A gunshot rings out and club patrons rushed for safety in a scene evoking the panic that lead to the E2 Nightclub tragedy in 2003.
The gunfire, according to Stone Park police, struck a club patron who was identified by family members as Calderon Pacheco. Another club patron stated in several social media posts that another patron with a military background attempted to treat Calderon Pacheco outside the club before she died.
Calderon Pacheco’s family has launched a GoFundMe on her behalf.
The incident is the second shooting at Mansion Live in the last 5 years. A Chicago man was killed in the first shooting in September 2020.
Mansion opened in 2018 at the site of a former strip club, Club Allure.
Mansion canceled their weekend events and issued a statement expressing their “thoughts and deepest sympathies are with everyone touched by this tragedy, and we are doing all we can to support local authorities as they navigate this difficult time.”
