It was only two years ago that you could pick up a monthly Spotify subscription for less than $10.
Now it’ll cost you $13.
In their second rate increase in the last year, Spotify is bumping the price of a Premium subscription by another dollar, bringing the monthly cost to $12.99.
The increase applies only to users in the United States (and, oddly, two of the three Baltic countries, Estonia and Latvia).
This is the second Spotify rate increase in the last 7 months, with the service increasing to $11.99 last June. This is a year-over-year increase of 18% — a bump more than 6x the rate of US inflation in 2025 (2.7%).
In 2023, the price was $9.99.
In a legally-mandated website post accompanying the announcement, Spotify explains that they are “updating our pricing to keep delivering a great experience.” (It really says that.)
The increase comes into effect in February; Spotify says they will send subscribers an email similar to the one below.
