DJ Sneak is preparing the release of Movin’ Parts EP, a new EP on Kerri Chandler’s Kaoz Theory imprint and which is dedicated in part to the late, great Judy Russell.
Kaoz Theory launched in 2015 with Kerri Chandler’s own Kaoz Theory EP and has since featured records from Jamie Jones, Satoshi Tomiie, Art Department and DJ Deep. Movin’ Parts is only the third EP Kaoz Theory has released in the last two years, following Bits by Voyeur and Immersed by Satoshi Tomiie.
Movin Parts’ features a jazzy, almost ethereal B side with an original track and dub mix dedicated to the late Judy Russell. On her passing last summer, 5 Mag called Russell “one of House Music’s most dynamic forces.” “Movin’ Parts” is itself a reference itself to Russell’s seminal Movin’ Records.
“If you’ve been around house music in America, there’s a pretty good chance that Judy Russell is responsible for a fair amount of your record collection, either selling it (at Vinylmania [and Movin’ Records] in the ’80s), signing it (at legendary NYC golden age label Nu Groove or Citi Records) or, most recently, selling the records you love to the people who sold them to you via the (then) defunct Downtown161.”
DJ Sneak’s Movin’ Parts EP will be released on May 8 2020 on Kaoz Theory.
