If Spotify were smart enough to have a whole radio station of tracks that sound like Janeret I’d fork over money to their algorithm like a drunk bachelorette tipping the DJ for playing “Call Me Maybe.” It’s deep house with a spaciness to it — a zero-atmosphere stomp with sonars and thermobaric aerosol afterburners firing below and above. Less poetically, they also have a universal appeal — a rare versatility in that they can be lain out at peak hour in big rooms and fill’em’up early hour sets as well. For Quasar on London’s Fuse, nothing is left out: a big, heavy bass on the fleetfooted title track, uptempo nods on “Elevated” and anxiety-ridden tension and release on the tribute to the masters, “Murk.”
