What part of Chicago are you from and where do you derive your musical influences from?
I’m from the west side of Chicago, Humboldt Park. I would say my style of spinning was mostly influenced by Ron Hardy’s wild play anything style of DJing, from Punk like the Clash and James White and the Blacks, next to Afro Latin Brazilian and soulful Disco to Hip Hop.
Where can people come see you play? Do you have any residencies?
I’m constantly spinning interesting events around the city, check my FB, Twitter and Instagram for my latest whereabouts. I also have a bi-monthly residency at the Unbridled at Untitled burlesque variete show.
I can also be heard weekly on WNUR 89.3 FM tuesdays 10-11pm CST in Chicago, and streamed worldwide at wnurstreetbeat.org.
Where do you like to find your music usually?
Everyday life gives me inspiration for all the different sounds, beats, and music selections that I use.
What do you have coming up for the future?
New projects include releasing new music, and remixes under “White Label DJs.”
First off, you can catch me guesting this month at the Art Institute’s “After Dark” party on January 29th, and I’m also appearing again at one of the oldest running parties in Chicago that began in 1905: the “Twelfth Night Masque Ball” that will be held on January 30th at the Hotel Intercontinental followed by the all night after party.
What was the last set you saw that really inspired you?
I recently caught Bob Sinclar In Paris spinning a really inspired set at Queen Club on the Champs Elysees
Awesome piece, thanks again Czarina, you rock!!!
