Ricky Sinz

Ricky Sinz has been a man of all trades as a DJ, producer, adult entertainer and dancer. Our last mix and interview from him was in 2011; this time we catch up with him after some time to see what he now has up his sleeve.

So Ricky tell us what you’ve been up to since we last interviewed you. My gosh it’s been years!

Things have been pretty good. My regular job consumed my life and time so I took a bit of a break from throwing events, producing, and mixing. Fortunately this year I am able to step back from that professional role and focus on music once again. I have been working on a distribution deal and have set the motions forward to relaunch Sin Factory Records and launch a new techno label called Nacht. And with summer fast approaching I’m in talks with several venues about launching some new House and Techno nights where I can now build a brand and work with some great Chicago talent to help bring the scene together along with some of my network from San Francisco, London, Berlin, and Amsterdam.

What are some of the major or most memorable parties you’ve played since then?

I have still maintained a presence in Europe, the UK, Central and South America… so places like Fabric in London, Watergate in Berlin, Cocoon Club in Frankfort and Tresor in Berlin to name a few. However I played a major beach party in the Virgin Islands a couple of months ago and it was insane! 2200 people on the beach, bonfires and pounding Techno music. The energy and atmosphere was insane.

How has your musical style changed? Who are you currently listening to?

For many years I only played House in the States… funk, jacking soulful Chicago House and then played Techno, Minimal and some House where I could work it in overseas. Now I play mostly Techno here. As far as production, I am only going to be focusing on Minimal and Techno.

Artists I listen to are Len Faki, Ben Glock and Truncate. Labels I like are Subwoofer, Nice and Nasty, Octopus Records, Ostgut Ton and Drumcode, which are all putting some heat out.

Where will you be playing next?

I will be playing at TatTuesday April 4th at Replay and Kenn Knex is setting up a Techno night at Debonaire where I’ll be doing a guest slot. We are in the process of setting up a major event in Detroit in August as well. My agent Vanessa Horca from A-List London is setting up a European, UK, Middle Eastern, and Asian tour as we speak. And in September and October I will be taking a step back as I am expecting the birth of my second child on approximately October 2nd so I want to be around and close to home.

Tell us about this mix for us?

This is just a fun mix of tracks I like to play at afterhours events and when I spin in Berlin:
Lots of drums and bass and layers. I’m notorious for layering multiple tracks and Techno is the perfect genre for 4 deck layers.
