January would have marked Frankie Knuckles‘ 61st birthday. As one of what is rumored to be a series of commemorations, Smart Bar has announced a benefit that promises to be a blow out.
For Frankie is a benefit for the Frankie Knuckles Foundation and kicks off Sunday, January 17 2016 in an all-building bash spilling out of the basement and into Metro. Featured talent includes David Morales, Louie Vega, Terry Hunter, Derrick Carter, Michael Serafini and Garrett David (the DJs of Queen!, Smart Bar’s Sunday night residency and the final residency that Frankie held.
Also featured on the bill are performances by legendary vocalists Rochelle Fleming (First Choice) and Adeva, who lent her voice to “Warning,” “I Thank You,” “Too Many Fish” and “Whadda U Want (From Me).”
All proceeds from ticket and drink sales will be donated to the Frankie Knuckles Foundation. Early bird tickets are available via etix.com; a limited number of VIP tables are on sale now as well.
