Cevin Fisher

Sad news today that New York City house music pioneer Cevin Fisher has passed after a brief battle with cancer. The groundbreaking DJ and producer had just turned 63 years old earlier this week.

Cevin Fisher’s management confirmed the news in a public memorial on Fisher’s social media accounts:

“Cevin Fisher (1963 – 2026): In Loving Memory: New Jersey-born Artist, DJ, Producer and House Music Pioneer Cevin Fisher passed away peacefully on 29 October 2026, only days after his birthday, after a brief bout with Cancer. The internationally acclaimed DJ leaves behind a loving wife, children, family and friends as well as four decades of music, a global following, and an enduring legacy in house music.”

Cevin Fisher was a resident at key New York house music clubs including Zanzibar and Pacha. For more than three decades he released a stream of records that found their way into heavy rotation every weekend. Most notable among his cuts were “The Freaks Come Out,” “(You Got Me) Burnin’ Up” (spelled a few different ways over the years), “It’s a Good Life” and “The Way We Used To.”

These tracks were all from the turn of the millennium, but Fisher never stopped, with releases in the last few years on BluFire / Peace Bisquit (his remix of Ultra Nate’s “Happy Feeling“), Nervous (“Everytime I Try” with DJ Chus) and David Morales’ DIRIDIM.
