Scott Song is a DJ, producer and promoter who has not only been a major influence in Chicago’s House scene for over 20 years, he is also battling Aplastic Anemia. A rare blood disorder, it requires many sessions of chemotherapy and expensive pharmaceuticals to maintain blood levels for those affected. Right now Scott is receiving life saving blood transfusions every week, hoping to qualify for a blood transfusion that would cure the disease.
“One day my bone marrow just stopped producing life-sustaining blood cells & blood products,” said Song. “It’s coming up on 6 years and my personal mantra throughout this entire process has been a quote from one of my all time favorite people, coach Jim Valvano, “Don’t give up, don’t EVER give up.””
On Wednesday, Nov. 29th, Howard Bailey, Scott Huevelhorst and Disco’s General Manager Cedric Combs will be hosting Rescued by Love, a fundraiser to be held at the entire 3 floors of 111 W. Hubbard to help raise funds for Song’s treatment.
The lineup is massive, featuring Derrick Carter, Honey Dijon, Gene Farris, Iz & Diz, DJ Heather, Lady D, John Curley, Jevon Jackson, Dino G and Matty Harris.
Rescued by Love’s event partners include: 5 Magazine, Paradigm Presents, House Preservation Society, Material & Sin Label
