“Zanzibar ran for 15 years,” Tony Humphries once told us, “and I think the longevity is because we started off by seeking a multicultural core. If you start with that – whether it’s a bar or a basement doesn’t matter, that’s what you can build on.”

DJing for nearly 40 years, Tony Humpries has done nearly everything you can ask, from holding down one of the most influential DJ residencies (in any genre of music) at Zanzibar to founding highly regarded labels like it was nothing at all, from Yellorange Records to Tony Records.

Today, building on a series of rooftop events in New York, Tony is traveling to Chicago for a Saturday night appearance on July 10, 2021 at Smartbar with Harry Cross and Jacob Meehan. Tickets are available at smartbarchicago.com.

Smartbar is at 3730 N. Clark Street, doors open at 10pm. All patrons must show proof of vaccination to attend; this requirement, they say, is subject to change.
