New Documentary on Disco Legend John Morales

Disco Confessions shines a deserved spotlight on one of the most important music icons of the last 50 years.

A new documentary will be making its world premiere on November 1 in London.

Disco Confessions is a film by Javi Senz profiling one of the most important and most unsung musicians of the last 50 years – disco legend John Morales. The producer behind a slew of hit remixes, Morales was one of a tiny, minutely small group of influential figures who invented the concept of the remix and became an architect of the deep, soulful disco sound that formed the core of the genre’s most enduring and influential records.

From the description:

Still churning out studio mixes and touring as a DJ aged 65, Morales is up-close and personal in this new documentary by director Javi Senz (Manchester Keeps Dancing), who films the man in New York, Ibiza and Lanzarote. Taking us back to the bodegas, basketball courts and Bronx clubs of his youth, as well as his current home studio and behind the decks on tour, Morales unpacks his enduring passion for music and the highs and lows of a six decade career, while revealing more private musings in some very candid direct-to-camera dialogue.

The film features some of the powerhouse colleagues of John Morales, including Jocelyn Brown, Louie Vega, Danny Krivit, DJ Spinna, DJ Spen, Kenny Dope, Joey Negro, Todd Terry, Terry Hunter and more.

The film will make its world premiere on November 1 2019 at London’s Doc’n Roll Film Festival with a Q&A with Javi Senz and John Morales. More info is available here.
