The family of Joseph Fiddler, better known in music as Amp Fiddler, have launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral expenses for the recently departed “ambassador of funk, soul, and electronic music, keyboardist, producer, Afro-futurist, and guiding force of light for so many.”
Fiddler passed away a week before Christmas after a heroic battle against cancer.
“There was no preparation for the high cost of a funeral,” the note attached to the campaign reads, “and during this difficult time, we are humbly reaching out to the community for help.”
“It would mean so much if you could share Amp’s memorial fundraiser with others who have been graced by his presence.”
Amp Fiddler was renown as one of the greatest “givers,” a teacher and educator in soul music, bridging generations and genres from Parliament/Funkadelic to J Dilla, Theo Parrish and Moodymann.
The full text from Tombi Stewart is below; contributions can be made here. All of our best to Fiddler’s family and all friends and family in Detroit.
It would be impossible to encapsulate the gravity of his energy, global impact & contributions.
His life’s work, legacy, & most importantly…his LOVE…will far exceed his earthly presence.

This is a funeral fundraiser to help cover the cost of Amp’s funeral expenses. There was no preparation for the high cost of a funeral, and during this difficult time, we are humbly reaching out to the community for help.
Please consider donating if you can,
as any amount will truly help. We need to raise $9,000.00 in order to cover the cost of Amp’s memorial service and send him home with the grace and honor he truly deserves.
It would mean so much if you could share Amp’s memorial fundraiser with others who have been graced by his presence.
How blessed are we, to have experienced Amp Fiddler in this lifetime.
A beautiful spirit & gift of light…
With much love & gratitude,
Tombi
