Legendary producer Giorgio Moroder has been added to the creative team behind Vengeance Is Mine, a mech combat video game to be published by 110 Industries.
Moroder will be composing the title track with vocals from Stefanie Joosten, Vengeance’s creative director and who previously portrayed the voice and likeness of the character “Quiet” in Metal Gear Solid V. Joosten also previously performed “Quiet’s Theme” from the soundtrack for Metal Gear Solid V.
Vengeance Is Mine is a “third-person melee mech combat title with a unique time-manipulation mechanic” according to 110 Industries. “In Vengeance is Mine, players will step into the shoes of Gabriel Jaeger, brutally executed by his brother in order to obtain an old piece of technology that will allow him to operate the Deacon — a derelict military installation buried under the streets of New Amsterdam.”
Moroder is of course one of the reasons you’re reading this magazine at all — a pioneer of electronic music and a hugely influential figure in the history of motion picture soundtracks thanks to his scores and songs for Top Gun, Flashdance, Midnight Express, Scarface and (somewhat forgotten today) Electric Dreams, a movie about a computer gone rampant who competes with its owner for the love of Virginia Madsen.
In 2018, the then-78 year old producer announced his first ever live tour a few years after the Daft Punk revival saw him take up DJing for the first time. “It is something I have always wanted to do,” he said in a statement. “Fans kept reaching out to me, asking if I would ever do a real tour. Back in the days it was unthinkable for producers to ever leave their studios. That territory was reserved for the singers. Today, DJs and music producers have become the superstars of popular dance music, so the time feels right.”
Here is a teaser for Vengeance Is Mine released several months before Moroder was brought on board:
