It’s always strange to see your favorite nightlife personalities outside of the ambience of the club, but tonight you’ll be able to see them (and, provided your tinnitus isn’t too bad, hear them) at a unique event for the Chicago History Museum’s “Out at CHM” series.

DJ Alan King of beloved Chicago institution The Chosen Few headlines a panel discussion titled “The House That Chicago Built”, focusing on the city’s “role in the birth and impact of House Music and its relationship to the LGBTQ community”.

Joining Alan are Robert Williams (founder of The Warehouse and The Music Box) and Derrick Carter with academics Micah Salkind of Brown University and Monica Hairston O’Connell, executive director of Columbia College Chicago’s Center for Black Music Research.

Out at the CHM: The House That Chicago Built is tonight, January 30 2014 from 5:30pm to 9pm at the Chicago History Museum (1601 N. Clark Street in Lincoln Park, Chicago). Tickets are $15 for members and students, $20 for the general public; see chicagohistory.org for more info.
