In late 2018, Mixcloud announced a service that some cheekily called “Patreon for DJs.” Mixcloud Select is the company’s “fan-to-creator subscription service,” which allows DJs and labels to offer up exclusive and early access to their mixes in exchange for a monthly subscription fee from fans.

After launching with industry stalwarts like John Digweed, Nicole Moudaber, Soul Clap and Red Light Radio, Mixcloud has added a second wave. Among the new DJs featured in the Mixcloud Select program are Anja Schneider, Dekmantel, DJ City and Mayer Hawthorne.

The minimum subscription fee is $2.99/month but subscribers have the option of paying more if they feel generous. It’s unclear how popular the program is, though Mixcloud refers to the revenue DJs can accrue as merely an “additional” revenue stream. The company also mentions that subscribers spend 35% of their time on Mixcloud listening to creators they subscribe to.
